It is one of the supreme ironies of the traditional metal brace that, although it is employed in order to make teeth look better, during the treatment time, the wearer’s mouth looks unsightly. All of those metal brackets and wires can really hinder self confidence and many are the teenagers who have experienced this first hand. Metal braces are extremely effective at what they do but if you are worried about the appearance of your mouth during the treatment to give you straightened teeth, consider an alternative.
One of these new alternatives is called Invisalign and it represents a far more discreet way to get your teeth straightened out into a perfect, uniform smile. Instead of using metal brackets and metal wires, Invisalign is made of clear plastic. Following a consultation with your dentist, he or she will craft a clear plastic ‘plate’ that will fit over your teeth and gently move them into new positions.
When the first Invisalign has done its work, your dentist will make a new one for you to wear and the process will continue until the teeth have been moved to the right spots in your mouth. You will need to wear Invisalign for twenty two hours a day but it is completely removable which means far less mess at meal times.
Invisalign works faster than the traditional metal brace too and treatment time can often be about one third of what it would take with a metal brace. Your Bristol dentist will be able to give you more information about Invisalign and then you can decide if it is the right treatment for you.
