Terrific Tooth Coloured Fillings in Chepstow

If you’re looking for a terrific tooth-coloured filling this autumn, why not pop in and see us? Our white fillings are designed to preserve and strengthen teeth that have cavities. The procedure is simple and quick and you won’t be able to notice the filling at all!

The benefits of white fillings

White fillings blend in with the natural tooth shade and it’s impossible to detect them when you smile. With white fillings, the teeth look much healthier and more attractive than with metal fillings. We choose the closest shade of dental composite to the natural tooth to ensure a seamless finish. In addition to providing natural looking aesthetics, white fillings are also strong and durable and they are considered much safer than mercury amalgam fillings. We are able to replace mercury amalgam fillings, as well as placing new white fillings.

The procedure

When you have a filling, the procedure usually takes around one hour. Before treatment begins, we will use local anaesthetic to numb the tooth so you don’t feel any pain. When your tooth is numb, your dentist will drill into the tooth to remove decayed tissue from the cavity. The cavity is then cleaned to ensure that is free from harmful decay and reduce the risk of infection spreading through the tooth. Once the cavity is completely clear, we will place the dental composite inside and shape it to fit the hole. The dental composite is soft and malleable at this stage, so we can mould it very easily. Once the cavity has been filled, a curing light is used to set the composite and make it firm. To finish off, your dentist will trim the composite to ensure it fits perfectly and looks great. If you’d like to replace an old mercury filling or you’re interested in tooth-coloured fillings, call us and book your appointment now!

Terrific Tooth-Coloured Fillings in Bristol

With today’s incredible modern materials, we are able to strengthen the teeth and fill cavities without detracting from the tooth’s natural beauty. With our tooth-coloured fillings, we can fill your cavities, while maintaining your beautiful smile!

All about tooth-coloured fillings

Tooth coloured fillings, also known as white fillings, are a mercury-free alternative to amalgam fillings. We place new fillings and we also offer a replacement service for existing metal fillings. Our white fillings are designed to match the shade of your tooth to ensure that you cannot tell the difference between the filing and the rest of the tooth. They are made from composite and resins, which are safer and more environmentally friendly than metal amalgam fillings. We may recommend that you have a filling if you have a decayed tooth and a cavity has formed in the tooth surface. Fillings strengthen the tooth, improve the function of the tooth and prevent pain and sensitivity. They also help to prevent the infection from spreading to other parts of the tooth.

The filling procedure

Before your tooth is filled, we will numb it using local anaesthetic, so you won’t feel any pain at all. The procedure is fairly straightforward and involves two key stages. Firstly, the cavity is cleaned and any decayed tissue is removed. Once the cavity is clear, bonding agent is applied to the surface of the tooth to facilitate adhesion. The second stage involves placing the filling. The dental composite is placed inside the cavity and then shaped to fit the hole. Once the cavity has been filled, the composite is set hard using a curing light. Once the composite has hardened, your Clifton Dental Studio dentist will make any final adjustments and trim the filling to ensure that the cavity is filled perfectly. If you have mercury amalgam fillings and you would like to replace them or you think you have a cavity, call us today and arrange an appointment.

Preserve Your Smile With Tooth-Coloured Fillings In Bristol

Fillings are commonly used to strengthen decayed teeth. With the latest tooth-coloured materials, we are able to restore the teeth without impacting the aesthetics of your beautiful smile.

About tooth-coloured fillings

In the past, patients with cavities were given silver amalgam fillings, which are strong and durable, yet highly visible. Mercury fillings have been used for many years and they are still approved for use in the UK, but some patients have concerns about the safety and environmental impact of these fillings and teamed with the many benefits of tooth-coloured fillings, white fillings have become a much more popular option. There have been major advances in materials and modern, tooth-coloured materials are very strong and hard-wearing, so you can now have a white filling in a back tooth. Tooth-coloured fillings are also completely invisible when you smile, so treatment will have absolutely no bearing on the look of your smile.

Why would I need a filling?

If you have a cavity or your tooth is damaged, you may be advised to have a filling. Fillings help to make the tooth stronger, so that you are able to eat properly and prevent the spread of infection, to save you from suffering from pain and sensitivity. Dental composite, which is used for fillings, can also be utilised to patch up worn and chipped teeth in a process called cosmetic or composite bonding.

Replacing mercury amalgam fillings

We see many patients who wish to replace their existing mercury amalgam fillings with new white fillings. In this case, we remove the old filling, clean the cavity and then re-fill it using tooth-coloured material.

Swindon gets Invisible Fillings For a Natural smile

3200188_blogAmazing advances in dental materials mean that you can now have fillings, which are completely invisible when you smile. At Clifton Dental of Bristol our tooth-coloured fillings are invisible to everyone apart from your dentist and they are much more durable than they used to be. Now, white filings are suitable for almost all patients and they should last for around seven years. Fillings are commonly used to fill cavities, which are small holes in the tooth surface caused by decay. They help to strengthen the tooth and prevent bacteria from spreading through the tooth and they are often a means of preventing the need for more intensive treatment further down the line. If decay is left untreated, this can result in more serious and even irreversible damage to the tooth and root canal treatment or a new crown may be required. With tooth coloured fillings, you can enjoy good oral health without affecting the aesthetic of your teeth. We are happy to fit new fillings or replacement fillings for mercury amalgam fillings, which are much more visible than white fillings. The filling procedure is quick and simple and there is nothing for you to worry about; your tooth will be numbed before treatment to ensure you don’t suffer any pain and the cavity will be cleaned thoroughly and any decayed tissue removed before the filling is placed. Composite is placed inside the filling when still in putty form and then set firm using a curing light.
