Bristol Celebrates All-on-4 for Fast Missing Teeth treatment

iStock_000003625930SmallAt Clifton Dental of Bristol we are proud to provide choices for our clients and in addition to our amazing traditional dental implants, we also offer the incredible All-on-4 system. This is an innovative dental implant treatment, which allows us to transform your smile in just one day. Usually, implant treatment takes several months, as it takes time for the implants to integrate into the bone tissue; however, with All-on-4, the process is much quicker and we fit the implants and the new teeth in a single day. All-on-4 uses just four implants to secure and stabilise an entire arch of new teeth; usually, between 6 and 10 implant are required. The system works by making use of the dense bone tissue at the front of the jaw. Two of the implants are located at the back of the mouth, with the other two sitting at the front. The back implants are placed at a 90 degree angle, as normal, but the front implants are placed at 45 degree angles. All-on-4 does not just boast speed, it is also offers amazing aesthetics and improved oral function, as patients are able to enjoy enhanced bite power, which enables them to chew effectively and enjoy a wide range of foods. All-on-4 also gives patients who have maybe struggled with traditional dentures in the past, peace of mind, as there is no chance of the denture coming loose, causing embarrassment and contributing to soreness in the gums. With this system, you can do everything you used to do with your natural teeth and enjoy a beautiful new smile.

iStock_000001865987SmallComplete smile rejuvenation, also known as full mouth reconstruction, is a procedure used to transform the smile and restore the teeth. It is often recommended when patients needs extensive treatment following an accident or injury. We use the latest treatments and techniques to turn broken, chipped, damaged and decayed teeth into a gorgeous, gleaming set of healthy pearly whites. The preparation stage is key to the success of treatment and we will work with you to design your new smile and draw up your bespoke treatment plan. Dr Neil Gerrard is hugely experienced in this area and will use his skill and experience to have your smile sparkling in no time! We are always honest and transparent and we will discuss the options with you and make recommendations based on your preferences, your needs and your budget. Treatment times and costs vary according to the nature of treatment and we may have to carry out preparatory work in some cases; for example, bone grafting if there is insufficient bone tissue in the jaw to support an implant. If this is the case, the procedure will be explained very carefully and you will be guided through the process step by step. Our aim is to restore your confidence and give you a smile to be proud of.

Bristol Banishes Bad Breath for good

4390244_blogBad breath (halitosis) is a common problem, which is easily treatable. Often, bad breath occurs in the morning and after eating strongly flavoured foods, but if you have unpleasant breath more frequently, there may be an underlying cause. Most cases of halitosis are linked to bacteria lingering in the mouth, usually at the back of the tongue. Good oral hygiene can help to keep these bacteria at bay, preventing them from collecting in the mouth and releasing odorous gases. Other possible causes of bad breath include smoking and taking some forms of medicine. If oral hygiene is the problem, we can offer advice about brushing and flossing at home, as well as providing powerful cleaning treatments, which tackle stubborn plaque and bacteria and leave the mouth feeling lovely and fresh. We recommend brushing twice a day for at least 2 minutes and having a check-up every 6 months to keep bad breath at bay. Chewing sugar-free gum after eating can also help to prevent bad breath, as well as stimulating saliva production, which helps to wash away food debris and neutralise acids in the mouth. If you have bad breath, you’re not alone; this is a very common issue and there’s nothing to be worried or embarrassed about. We are here to help banish bad breath for good!

We Straighten Teeth with Clear, Discreet Aligners in Bristol

595603_blogAt Clifton Dental of Bristol we like to look to the future and are always eager to find out about new treatments to ensure our patients have access to the best services. Invisalign is one of our most popular orthodontic treatments and it’s no surprise, as this innovative system allows patients to gain an amazing smile using aligners, which are virtually invisible. A lot of patients worry about having treatment because they don’t want to deal with changes to their appearance or comments about their braces and Invisalign provides a solution to these concerns. Rather than using braces made from brackets and wires, Invisalign uses clear, light aligners to gently guide the teeth into the right place to create an amazing new smile. The patient wears a series of aligners, replacing them every 2 weeks until treatment is complete. All the aligners are custom-made and each one is slightly different to the next. Invisalign offers flexibility, comfort and amazing aesthetics and it is a great choice for people who want to feel confident during their treatment and those who want the dream smile without the hassle of visible braces. Removable braces also have the additional benefit of allowing you to eat and clean your teeth without any fuss. If a discreet, comfortable treatment is what you’re looking for, Invisalign could be the perfect solution!

Fronting up to Dental Phobia in Bristol

2788833_blogPhobias can be a very real problem for some people and the causes can be deep rooted in your psyche; most people will shut them away and avoid anything that brings them to the surface. However, this can lead to a real problem if you suffer from dental phobia- you are caught in a catch 22 situation here; you need the treatment for your oral health, yet the fear can prevent you from getting it. Now, you need to be strong and confront this darkness that scares you, and it won’t be easy in the beginning, but you have to crack this and the only way is to seek out professional counselling. There is a big irony here because it should be your dentists that you talk to. These people understand your fears and the problems that phobias can bring to the chair. Go slow at first, open up and get things off your chest and when you are ready your dentist can then walk you through the range of modern treatments, sedation techniques and other methods to relax you during procedures. Don’t let this phobia get in the way of your needs and fight it. If you want further help on this condition then get in touch with Clifton Dental of Bristol, for they will advise you about your phobia and ways of getting around it.

Getting through Dental Pain in Bristol

2143132_blogDental pain can come in many shapes and sizes and various levels of agony. Decay can leave the tooth very painful when exposed to varying temperatures and needs to be worked on by your dentist. More intense pain can come from a knocked out tooth or an abscess and these will need immediate treatment. The eruption of wisdom teeth can also be very painful just prior to them breaking through the gums; ulcers, a chipped tooth or the loss of a fitting can also cause discomfort in your mouth. In all cases such as these, of course they need working on but some can be soothed by painkillers or herbal products until your dentist is available. But dental pain can also arise after a procedure has been carried out; the removal of a wisdom tooth can be very spiteful, as with any tooth that needs to come out. Procedures such as root canal treatment, fillings, and the fitting of a dental implant can also leave your mouth sore and bruised afterwards. If you understand the nature of dental pain and how it can affect you, you can have a few products in the house you can take should anything go wrong. Get in touch with Clifton Dental for more information about what to do when pain strikes.

Pulling through Dental Anxiety in Bristol

352388_blogIf you are prone to dental anxiety, it can make even the simplest of visits to see your dentist an uncomfortable experience, especially so if you need to have complex work done. The dentist can also have trouble treating you if you are constantly fidgeting around in the chair. Being aware of this, dentists can help you out with such problems as they are trained for this. Some dentists will use aromatherapy beforehand in the waiting room as a way of calming you down, but if your anxiety is bad and you don’t like waiting around, you would be wise to get the first appointment of the day in order to get it over and done with. You should also sit down with your dentist and learn about your treatments ahead so that you can make informed decisions alongside your dentist, this will give you a little empowerment and confidence over what is being done to you. Modern dentistry makes use of the best technology today, which has virtually made most treatments completely painless; however, you do have the option of anaesthetics and soothing gels to make your visit more relaxed and soothing. For more on anxieties and phobias, talk to the professionals about this at Clifton Dental and can offer valuable advice about problems such as these.

Bristol chooses Cosmetic Bonding for a fast fix

2445507_blogIt is always lovely to retain a beautiful smile, especially as you get older and your teeth are starting to suffer from ravishes that life and age are throwing at them. If you find yourself in this predicament, it isn’t hard to rectify, especially if you choose to go for cosmetic bonding; this is probably the best treatment for cost, effectiveness and versatility you could go for. It involves rebuilding the damage areas and hiding them away with layers of white coloured resin (matched to the colour of your teeth), and once everything is tucked away, the teeth can be sculptured and polished until they fit in precisely with the rest of your mouth. The results will look great and it will only take an hour to achieve this. The only flaw with using resin is that it isn’t as durable as say porcelain veneers and comes with a shelf-life of around 5 years- it is also susceptible to staining. However, this can be simply remedied again by popping back for a top-up when things go wrong. Ask Clifton Dental about bonding and get this wonder treatment done in Bristol.
