What is Botox?
Botox is an incredibly popular anti-ageing treatment that uses a purified form of toxin known as botulinum toxin type A to reduce the visibility of wrinkles and fine lines. Botox is injected in very small quantities, and treatment is targeted to cover specific areas of the skin, including the forehead, around the eyes and between the mouth and nose. Botox works by blocking nerve signals to the facial muscles. This prevents contraction and causes the muscles to relax, making lines much less noticeable.
Botox treatment is very quick and pain is minimal. Sessions usually last around 15-30 minutes and the results last up to 6 months. A very fine needle is used to inject Botox into zones of the skin. Treatment can be repeated in the future to prolong the effects.
Is Botox safe?
Botox is approved for use in the UK, and Dr Neil Gerrard has extensive experience in using this treatment. His meticulous attention to detail ensures a comfortable treatment process and excellent, natural-looking results. After Botox treatment, there is a small risk of minor bruising and swelling, but this tends to subside very quickly.

Dr Neil Gerrard has extensive experience in treating patients using Botox and he aims to create a natural look that makes patients look and feel younger. Botox is injected into specific areas of the skin and it helps to make lines look less visible by blocking nerve signals to the facial muscles; this prevents muscle contraction and contributes to smoother looking skin.
Dermal fillers can be used to tackle fine lines and wrinkles and they are also designed to boost volume in the skin to combat the effects of decreased supplies of collagen and elastin, the fibres, which give the skin firmness. Fillers, like Botox, are injected into the skin and they help to make the complexion look brighter and smoother, as well as defining the cheeks and jaw line and enhancing the natural beauty of the face.
What does treatment involve?
Before facial rejuvenation treatment, all patients have a consultation, which enables them to find out more about treatment, ask questions and learn about what the actual procedure entails. One of the best things about facial rejuvenation is the simplicity and convenience of treatment. Dr Gerrard will discuss the areas you want to treat beforehand and then when you come in for your treatment, he will use a very fine needle to gently inject either Botox or filler into the skin. The injections should not be painful and you’ll be able to go home or back to work straight afterwards. The results of treatment are temporary and should last between 3 and 9 months.

What does treatment involve?
You often see adverts about having Botox treatment in your lunch break and facial rejuvenation really is as simple as it sounds. Once we have had had a consultation and planned your treatment, the actual treatment session only lasts around 15 minutes and you will not experience any side-effects, so you can get back to work or whatever the rest of the day holds without any worries. We use an ultra-fine needle to inject filler or Botox into the specified areas of the skin and the results become visible shortly after.
These treatments are temporary, non-invasive solutions to common signs of ageing, and offer a safer and more convenient alternative to surgery. The results of filler treatment last up to 9 months, while Botox usually lasts between 3 and 6 months.
