Laser Dentistry at Clifton Dental Studio
Using a painless laser to protect your smile!
There are 3 main benefits of using the Dental Laser:
1) It's Completely Harmless And It's Completely Painless
2) It Typically Picks Up Early Cavities
3) We Can Measure Borderline cases and recommend solutions
At Clifton Dental Studio we have a fantastic bit of equipment that we use for our guests to give you the very best care for the longer term. It’s a laser. It’s a laser that measures active tooth decay within your teeth, cavities within your teeth.
The way this works is it measures the disease-causing bacteria that cause cavities to develop and grow in the first place. The equipment itself will then measure that, providing a number between, or a measurement between 1 and 99. Essentially, the bigger the number the higher the risk that what’s there will get worse, and the lower the number, the less risk of what’s there will get worse. What the research shows is, once we start recording numbers 15, 20, and over, that’s when active tooth decay is actually present, and treatment is indicated.
There are a number of benefits of using this laser. The first one is, is that it is completely harmless and it’s completely painless, so it means we can measure the teeth as often as we like.
The second benefit is that it typically picks up early cavities, which don’t show up on dental x-ray, so it means we have the opportunity to treat the tooth at an earlier stage and avoid drilling and filling, which is also very nice for you as a patient.
Thirdly, if there are any teeth there that are measuring 10 or 15, so borderline measurements that we’re not happy about, but we don’t actually want to treat, we have the opportunity to then measure those teeth time and time again over a period of you coming in to see us for your regular hygiene and maintenance. If we see that number start to increase, then we know there’s high risk that, that will get worse, and then we can offer you a solution to prevent that from happening.
This is a piece of equipment that you will the team using on a very regular basis when you come to see us because it has many benefits in terms of your health, and also reducing the amount of treatment that’s actually acquired over the longer term, and offering us an opportunity to provide minimal treatment or conservative treatment should the need arise to do so.
