Tooth Coloured Fillings
Today’s modern materials mean that tooth-coloured fillings are now virtually invisible to all but professional dentists, and much longer-lasting than they used to be.
Their pleasing appearance means many patients are now asking us to replace their grey amalgam fillings with tooth-coloured ones.
Tooth-coloured fillings have the added advantages that they are mercury-free, unlike amalgam ones, and the preparation conserves more of the natural tooth
Porcelain inlays and onlays
These are carried out when there is not enough tooth to support a conventional tooth-coloured filling but there is still enough left to avoid placing a crown.
It usually takes two appointments to complete the procedure. At the first one, we prepare your tooth by removing any decay and/or old filling material. We take an impression of the tooth and fit a white filling as a temporary solution.
Your porcelain inlay or onlay is then created by our dental laboratory to perfectly meet the rest of your natural tooth and we fit it to your tooth at your second appointment.
Porcelain inlays and onlays are very long-lasting and can increase the strength of your tooth.
