We're More Than Just a Dental Studio…

Gone are the days when a dental surgery was simple the place to go for a filling or have a tooth removed. Nowadays, even a simple practice or an NHS dental surgery has the techniques and technology to perform at least some manner of simple cosmetic dentistry. Many of the leading surgeries in the country now also offer facial cosmetic work as well, Clifton Dental Studio being one of them.

What else can you get from your dentist?

As well as the excellent dental work – both practical and cosmetic – and sublime customer service, Clifton also offers facial rejuvenation treatment. All the treatments in this area are non-surgical treatments that are becoming more and more popular. The treatments include injectable Botox treatment.

Botox

Most people have heard of Botox, with good reason. It is one of the most well known and successful non-surgical facial cosmetic options. It is a fairly simple process in which diluted Botulinum is injected into designated areas. It’s used to decrease the appearance of wrinkles and blocks impulses between the nerves and muscles on the area of the face that it is injected to. One of the main concerns with non-surgical cosmetics is whether it will hurt. Botox uses an exceptionally thin needle which results in very little to no discomfort.

Get a Summer Makeover with Fabulous Facial Rejuvenation!

The summer is almost upon us and many of us are eagerly anticipating parties, weddings and holidays, so what better way to make sure you look your best than treating yourself to facial rejuvenation treatment? Our non-invasive facial treatments are the perfect tonic to tired and dull looking skin, as well as lines and wrinkles. The treatment is so quick and convenient that we’ll have you looking and feeling amazing in perfect time for a summer to remember.

What are fillers?

Dermal fillers are commonly used to plump and add volume and vitality to the skin. As you get older, the amount of collagen and elastin in the skin decreases and this can leave your skin looking sunken, tired and old. With fillers, we can replace the lost collagen to add volume to your cheeks and enhance your facial features to bring out your natural beauty and boost your confidence. Fillers also smooth the complexion, reducing the visibility of lines and wrinkles and giving your skin a gorgeous, youthful look.

Filler treatment

Filler treatment is really simple and it only takes around 15-20 minutes, so it can be fitted around your schedule very easily. Before we start treatment, we will have a consultation to take a look at your skin and discuss where you want to treat. We will also explain what will happen when you have filler treatment and answer any questions you have. The actual procedure simply involves using a very thin needle to inject the filler into the areas of the skin you want to treat. After treatment, you will soon be able to see the effects and they should last between 6 and 9 months. After this period of time has elapsed, it is possible to top up the treatment as and when you wish. If you have troublesome lines, look older than you feel or would simply like to give your complexion a boost of radiance, why not call us today and find out about our amazing facial treatments?

Why are More and More People Choosing Botox?

Botox is a chemical that has been greatly studied and observed by many scientists and professionals. As it has become an accepted practice in today’s society, many people are now investing in Botox for a younger looking appearance. Several people around the world have heard of the Botox injection and its many uses for aesthetic and cosmetic enhancement. It is a well-known anti-aging technique that has been practiced by doctors for many years. Botox can also be used to control hyperactive muscles that impair your smile and also to successfully treat excessive sweating. If you have wrinkles or a feature about your face that you feel impairs your image, you could always contact a dentist for a Botox consultation, to see what can be done to enhance your facial appearance. Lines around your eyes, creases at the corner of your mouth and frown marks can all be treated quickly and effectively with Botox treatment. Another reason why people tend to use this procedure is to take years off of their skin in a quick and easy way. Sometimes people may acquire wrinkles that highlight or emphasis their actual age, such as around the eyes and in their smile, affecting the whole shape and contour of their face. Often, first impressions rely on eye contact, gestures, and even facial expressions and cosmetic appeal. This is why the use of Botox is becoming more and more popular.

Freshen Your Appearance This Spring with Dermal Fillers

Mother Nature takes her toll on us all in the end. The fresh, youthful face is slowly replaced with an older more lined appearance. However this need not be the case and cosmetic surgery doesn’t have to be the only option either.

How do dermal fillers work?

The treatment is very simple, the product is gently injected into the skin around the mouth to give it a plumper more youthful appearance. The lips can also be plumped up to enhance the smile and this treatment is sometimes used during a smile makeover treatment.

What areas can be treated with dermal fillers?

Areas around the mouth, the lips and between the eyebrows are the most commonly treated areas. However this treatment can be used on other areas and this can be discussed prior to treatment.

How long does it take and how quickly will I see results?

This form of treatment is very quick and does not require any pre-tests to be carried out. The treatment will usually take about half an hour to complete and the results are instant.

Is the treatment painful?

This all depends on your personal pain threshold, however most patients report only minimal pain or discomfort during the procedure. When it comes to the lips, an anaesthetic will usually be used as this area is more sensitive.

How long will the treatment last?

This will depend greatly on the patient’s age, skin condition and makeup as well as their overall lifestyle. However the average estimate used is between 6 to 12 months. The lips tend to need to be done more frequently than folds and wrinkles do.

Rejuvenate Your Skin in Time for Spring

As well as giving you a beautiful, gleaming smile with our cosmetic, restorative and general dental treatments, we also provide treatments to rejuvenate and revive your skin. Our facial treatments are non-surgical and sessions are usually complete within 30 minutes. If your skin is looking dull and tired, you’re sick of zoning in on wrinkles when you look in the mirror or you want to roll back the years without the risks of surgery, we can help!

Our treatments

Our treatments include Botox and dermal fillers.

Botox

Botox is a purified toxin injected into the skin to smooth lines and wrinkles. This treatment is particularly popular for treating issues such as crow’s feet and lines on the forehead. Botox works by limiting muscle contraction in the facial muscles. Treatment is non-invasive, sessions usually last between 10 and 30 minutes and the results last between 3 and 6 months. If you are new to facial treatments, Botox is a good option because the results are only temporary, so you can have treatment without committing to a permanent look or undertaking the risks of surgery.

Dermal fillers

Dermal fillers are another popular treatment for reducing the visibility of facial lines and they also provide a solution for dull and sunken skin. Fillers add volume and plumpness to the skin to help combat the effects of ageing and decreasing quantities of collagen. Fillers can also add more volume to the lips and treatment can really make a difference to the definition of the facial features. Like Botox, dermal fillers produce temporary results and patients have the choice to top-up their treatment after around 6-9 months.

The procedure

The beauty of fillers and Botox is the simplicity and speed of the treatment process. The procedure takes less than half an hour, there is very little pain involved and you don’t need to worry about taking time off after treatment. A fine needle is used to inject Botox or filler into the skin. Before treatment, we will discuss the areas you want to treat and explain how the treatment works and what you can expect after treatment.

Rejuvenate Your Face with Our Excellent Anti-Aging Treatments

Pablo Picasso once quipped that “It takes a long time to become young.” Despite all his artistic prowess, it seems that Picasso hadn’t counted on Botox.

What is Botox then?

Botox is a diluted toxin which, when used in appropriate doses, is very safe. Botox essentially makes your facial muscles relax, helping to eliminate wrinkles and make your face look smoother. Botox can also be used to help with other medical conditions, including muscular spasms, motor neuron disease and teeth grinding. Most people tend to associate Botox with its aesthetic usage. Botox is one way of altering your appearance without requiring surgery!

How can it do this?

Facial lines form as a result of underlying muscular action. Botox effectively blocks the impulses from nerves to muscles in the area it is injected in to, thus reducing the appearance of facial lines in these areas.

Standard procedure

Botox, in terms of cosmetic treatment, is speedier than superman running a lap around the Earth. In other words: Botox application normally takes 10 minutes!  Enhancements should become recognisable after roughly two to three days and should continue to emerge for roughly a month.

Will it hurt?

A fine needle is used to minimise discomfort. Many say it is less painful than waxing or a facial! You may experience some itching or swelling immediately after the injection, but this should subside relatively quickly.

Post-treatment advice

After treatment, lie down and rest for a few hours. Also, avoid rubbing the injected area for three days as this could potentially shift Botox into undesired locations. Avoid alcohol and painkillers for a while too.

Look and Feel Rejuvenated with Our Fabulous Facial Treatments

For some, the idea of altering one’s appearance seems enticing but going under the knife seems a little too invasive. Hope is not lost for such people as, thanks to dermal fillers, you can look younger without surgery!

What are dermal fillers?

A filler is a substance which, when injected into your skin, restores skin volume and smoothes out lines in the face.

What is so special about their fillers?

We human folk naturally possess a collagen fibre layer which supports our skin. Alas, this fibre layer will slowly deteriorate as we grow older. Restylane products utilise hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance which combats such deterioration of the flesh.

So, how does a typical procedure go?

The actual treatment is pretty speedy and should take somewhere between just a few minutes and half an hour. It should be noted that the procedures length is affected by the area being treated. The surgeon will inject a small quantity of filler into the specified area of using a very fine needle. Dermal fillers can banish wrinkles by producing volume underneath them, thus plumping them out of existence. The curve of your lips can be similarly affected.

How long should I expect the results to last for?

The results should remain noticeable for roughly a year, though they can easily be topped up should you wish to sustain the effect.

Facial treatment… at a dental studio?

Yes: Given the incredibly high standards of cleanliness and hygiene that a dental practice must adhere to, it makes a dental practice the ideal place for such a procedure. You can even have your face treated in tandem with your teeth!

How to Stop Snoring

If snoring is keeping you awake at night, we can help. Our anti-snoring treatments can help to improve breathing while you sleep, reducing noise and ensuring everyone enjoys a good night’s sleep.

What causes snoring and how can I stop?

The noise of snoring is caused by the soft tissue at the back of the mouth and in the throat vibrating. The most common risk factors for snoring include:
  • being overweight
  • having a large neck circumference
  • smoking
  • sleeping on your back
  • taking certain forms of medication, including sleeping pills
  • drinking alcohol.
Sometimes, people also find that they snore when they have an illness that affects their breathing, such as a cough or cold. If you snore occasionally, there’s probably nothing to worry about and you won’t need to seek advice. But if snoring is a persistent problem, it’s a good idea to see your GP or come and see us. Disturbed nights of sleep can soon make you feel drowsy and lethargic during the day and in the long-term, you may be at risk of stress, anxiety, depression and increased susceptibility to illnesses and infections. There are some very simple steps you can take to stop snoring, including:
  • changing your sleeping position (sleeping on your side is preferable to sleeping on your back)
  • avoiding alcohol during the evenings
  • exercising on a regular basis
  • avoiding sleeping pills
Giving up smoking is also hugely beneficial for snorers. However, we recognise that this is a difficult process and are here to help and support you. We are also able to provide custom-designed bite guards made by Somnowell. Somnowell products are tried and tested and have been developed based on years of research. Mandibular advancement devices have been proven to be very effective for people who snore on a regular basis. These devices are designed to improve breathing and increase air flow by holding the lower jaw in a forward position while you sleep. If you need help for snoring, call now and arrange a consultation!

No More Snores with Our Anti-Snoring Treatments

We are proud to offer Somnowell treatment to help patients who suffer with a range of issues, including snoring, TMJ disorder and bruxism (tooth grinding). Somnowell has developed an impressive range of products based on extensive research and we are delighted to bring these innovative and effective appliances to the people of Bristol. If you snore or regularly suffer with sleepless nights because you live with a snorer, call us today to see how we can help.

Somnowell anti-snoring treatment

Even one sleepless night can make you feel tired, irritable and lethargic and constant sleep deprivation can really take its toll on your health and wellbeing. Snoring is a common problem, but there is a solution. Often, in cases of infrequent or mild snoring, making simple changes to your lifestyle and sleeping habits, such as sleeping on your side rather than your back and avoiding alcohol during the evening can be beneficial. However, in more severe cases, more dramatic changes may be recommended, such as losing weight and giving up smoking. We also offer Somnowell custom-fit mandibular advancement devices, which are designed to increase air flow during the night by moving the lower jaw forward to ensure the airway stays open while you sleep. The device is tried and tested, comfortable and designed to last a lifetime. The appliance has been developed with comfort in mind and uses the latest ergonomic design concepts to prevent discomfort and ensure you are able to sleep peacefully. If snoring is getting you down, let us help! Call us today and make an appointment for a consultation.

We Offer Facial Rejuvenation Treatments Too!

At Clifton Dental Studio, we like to provide our clients with a comprehensive range of services and are delighted to offer facial rejuvenation treatments in addition to the latest dental innovations. With our non-invasive facial treatments, you can enjoy smoother, younger looking skin without the risks of surgery. We have been providing Botox treatment for over a decade and we also have extensive experience in filler treatment, so you’ll have peace of mind that you’re in the best possible hands.

Our treatments

We offer Botox and dermal filler treatment. Both are non-surgical anti-ageing treatments proven to rejuvenate the skin without the risks and potential complications associated with surgery.

Botox

Botox is a purified form of botulinum toxin type A, an effective treatment for lines and wrinkles. It works by blocking nerve signals to the facial muscles, preventing muscle contraction. This causes the muscles to relax, resulting in softened wrinkles and the more youthful looking skin. Botox is injected into the targeted areas of the skin using a finely pointed needle in a procedure that usually lasts no longer than 30 minutes. The effects start to become visible after a few days. The effects of Botox are temporary and usually last around three to six months.

Dermal fillers

Dermal fillers help to create a smoother, brighter complexion by adding volume to the skin to reduce the visibility of fine lines and wrinkles. Fillers help to combat the ageing effects of depleted collagen stores, giving the skin more bounce and vigour and making you look and feel much younger. Fillers also help to enhance the facial features and we can use them to create a fuller lip. Like Botox, filler treatment involves using a fine needle to inject a small amount of filler into certain areas of the skin. The procedure only takes a few minutes and the results last up to nine years. In the case of lip filler treatment, anaesthetic is applied to the lips to prevent pain, as the skin on the lips is very fragile.
